Sotheby’s evening auction. The wait was strong. The star of the evening was Gustav Klimt’s portrait “Lady with a Fan”. After nine years the work has returned to the art market for new prices and realizations.

After an interesting fight, the painting sold for £ 85.3 million, $ 108.4 million dollars, € 86 million setting a new auction record for a work of art in Europe and for the artist Gustav Klimt. The result was also the second highest price for any portrait ever sold at auction.
The highest price for a painting sold at auction in Europe was Claude Monet’s ‘Le Bassin Aux Nympheas’ in 2008 at $ 80.4 million, while the record for any artwork sold at auction in Europe was set by Alberto Giacometti’s bronze “Walking Man I” for $ 104.3 million in 2010.
