Radical Harmony is the exhibition that unites a large and important batch of works from the Kroller-Muller Museum in Otterlo with others from the Tate London, the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Museum Barberini in Potsdam and the National Gallery itself.

The word Radical starts from the painter George Seurat and his colleagues who, through Pointillisme, represented at the time a sort of end but also a new beginning for what would be the Avant-garde and the approach to making Art. An exhibition dedicated to the Neo-Impressionists movement and their works.

The painting of reference is the cancan dancers Le Chahut (1889‒90) on show in UK for the first time. The title of the exhibition will instead pay homage to the collector, magnate and patron Helene Kröller-Müller (1869‒1939), the direct and indirect subject of the exhibition “Radical Harmony: Helene Kröller-Müller’s Neo-Impressionists” scheduled from 13 September 2025 to 8 February 2026.

The works already announced will be among the various ones present Jan Toorop’s Sea (1899), Théo van Rysselberghe’s In July – before Noon or The Orchard (1890), Henry van de Velde’s Twilight (about 1889) and Paul Signac’s The Dining Room (1886-87), which will be paired with the artist’s other interior scene, A Sunday (oil on canvas, 1888-90), an exceptional loan from a private collection. The artists present will be for example Théo van Rysselberghe (1862‒1926), Paul Signac (1863‒1935), Anna Boch (1848‒1936), Georges Seurat (1859–1891), Jan Toorop (1858-1928).

The exhibition presents itself as an opportunity to see together several masterpieces in the name of great collecting and art history.
